What exactly is that?

Your companies brand identity is everything that makes it unique. It is your logo, your marketing materials, your website, your store and packaging. It is the way you treat your clients and customers. It is how you answer the phones and how your employees dress. Your business brand identity is what sticks in consumers minds - and earns you mind share.

OK, but, what is mind share?

Mind share is a fancy BUZZZZ term meaning your clients and customers will remember you over your competition. A great brand identity is sticky. It sticks in peoples brains, earning (or stealing) their mind share. What do you think of when you think of burgers and fries? McDonalds? Carls Jr.? Maybe Arbys? What icon comes to mind? Golden arches? A Yellow Star? Or a big, brown, 10 gallon hat? Who / what ever you think of first - has earned (or stolen) your mind share in the burger and fries market.
